The English Institute of Sport Sheffield
The English Institute of Sport Sheffield is open to all; the local community, schools, general public, events, elite athletes… basically everyone including you.
There is something for everyone whether you want to take part in an activity such as Back to Netball, Martial Arts, Boxing or even fencing there is something on offer for all ages and abilities. There is also a gym at the EIS Sheffield, The Valley Health & Fitness which is open to public. Membership is limited so you are always guaranteed a machine if you want to pop in for a quick work out or a sauna.

The Venue Areas
The venue offers a range of sports performance areas for all abilities to use including;
The Valley health & Fitness – the premium fitness facility complete with gym and regeneration area.
Judo Hall – where you can try many different Martial Arts
Combat Hall – where the Olympic bound boxers train and you can have a go at boxing
Netball Hall – were the Sheffield Sharks games are held and you can have your own competition
Badminton Hall – where the last Snooker World Championships were held and you can have hire a Badminton court
Multi Purpose Hall – where the elite, and yourselves, can play the up and coming sport table tennis 
Athletics Arena - complete with 200m 6-lane track, long jump, high jump, poll vault, hurdles and the home to many School Sports Days and training sessions.
EIS Support Centre – as well as all the venue areas above the English Institute of Sport Sheffield is home to the English Institute of Sport Support Centre where the elite athletes in the South Yorkshire area receive strength and conditioning training as well as athlete support services. This area is not open to the general public but you will still pass the athletes around the building.
You will find everything you need under one roof from Netball classes for all ages to the Valley Health and fitness suite, a relaxing spa area to personal training sessions with Herol 'Bomber' Graham, School
Holiday clubs to School Sports Days. You can even hire courts yourself or just pop down and watch the
many events we have on offer.

The Events
The English Institute of Sport Sheffield hosts many events, the majority of which are open for spectators and are televised. Events range from local School Sports Days of which we have over 30 a year to the World Snooker Championship Qualifiers. The events are wide and varied and there is always something on which will take your interest.
Some of the most popular events include AAA Championships, World Volleyball Championships, English Table Tennis Championships, Open Fencing, World Wrestling, Netball European Championship, Channel 4 The Games and ITV Fit Club.

The History
Opened in December 2003 the English Institute of Sport Sheffield (EIS Sheffield) is one of the country’s most impressive indoor sports training facilities. Committed to the development of UK sport at all levels EIS Sheffield welcomes the general public, schools & colleges, the local sporting community and the country's elite athletes to benefit from the state-of-the-art facilities available.
The English Institute of Sport – Sheffield is Sport England Lottery-funded and managed by Sheffield International Venues Ltd, who successfully operate and manage 14 entertainment and leisure facilities across Sheffield. The venue is owned by Phoenix Sports Ltd, a subsidiary company of Sport England, purposely set up to oversee the development of the venue from conception. Phoenix Sports Ltd consists of a number of Board Members, chaired by David Knight, Sport England. The board members meet monthly to review the centers achievements and ensure it is meeting all its targets.

EIS Sheffield is home to many different organizations, representatives of a number of National Governing Bodies and influential sporting organisations including: English Institute of Sport Support Centre for our elite athletes. Disciplines base at Sheffield Support Centre include: Boxing / Handball / Volleyball / Table Tennis / Rugby Union (Abbeydale) / Disability Table Tennis / Diving (Ponds Forge) / Boxing / Judo / Basketball / Boccia plus two new sports Weight lifting and Power lifting (at Leeds Met).

Business to Business
EISS is an inspiring setting for conferences and seminars with a range of meeting rooms and an in-house catering service. To compliment the facilities there is a health & fitness membership, The Valley which is dedicated to offering ongoing guidance and support with regular personal training sessions and a capped membership.
