George Hopkinson

George is taking part in the 31st Westfield Health British Transplant Games in Sheffield 2008.

On September 28 1987, George Hopkinson underwent a kidney transplant.

Since then he has won two medals, including gold, at the annual British Transplant Games.

This year, George is competing in three events: bowls, snooker and ten pin bowling, as part of the Sheffield team led by Games Team Manager Betty Rayner. George took part in the Snooker competiton at the World Snooker Academy at the English Institute of Sport Sheffield.

George said: “My best experience of The Games was winning my gold medal in Sheffield in 1995, in front of our home supporters.

“Participating in The Games is fantastic because I’ve made a lot of friends from all over the country.”
In his spare time, George, who is retired, enjoys bowling and is a member of the Crown Green Bowling Club.
