Slam dunk with the Sharks at Open All Hours event
Budding basketball players will get the chance to slam dunk the Sheffield Sharks at an ‘Open All Hours’ event this weekend.
Stars from the Sharks will be on hand to shoot hoops with youngsters at their home venue, the English Institute of Sport – Sheffield (EIS Sheffield), for the event on Saturday, July 17.
Basketball is one of a range of free sports sessions on offer at EIS Sheffield between 6pm and 10pm for children aged 11 to 16 years old.
The popular ‘Open All Hours’ event will also provide young people with the opportunity to try military circuits, Futsal with the FA and quick cricket.
Jayne Naylor, programming and development manager at EIS Sheffield, which is operated by Sheffield International Venues (SIV), said: “Open All Hours gives young people in Sheffield the opportunity to try a range of fun, physical activities at a time when they often have nothing else to do.
“We held a similar event last year and it was a great success. There was an excellent turn out and the activities we put on were really popular, especially basketball sessions with the Sharks players who were a great inspiration to the youngsters.
“The event will provide a safe place for teenagers to spend time with their friends while also encouraging them to get involved with positive activities, growing their interest in sport and boosting community participation.”
