Jess fit for Doha World Indoors

EIS-based Jess Ennis has vowed to be in the best possible shape for the pentathlon at next weekend's World Indoor Championships in Doha, despite fears of a foot injury.

The Sheffield world champion said she can strongly challenge Beijing Olympic medallists Nataliya Dobrynska, Haylea Fountain and Tatyana Chernova, who are expected to be her main rivals in Doha.

Ennis was forced to miss last month’s world trials at English Institute of Sport – Sheffield as well as the British Grand Prix in Birmingham as a precaution after straining a ligament at Glasgow’s indoor meeting on 30 January.

Her absence prompted speculation that the setback was more serious than first diagnosed.

But Ennis remains adamant she will travel to Qatar on Tuesday in near-perfect fitness.

Her last competition saw Jess set a British record in the 60 metres hurdles and achieve a high jump lifetime best of 1.94m.
