| Sports venue support for charity bra appeal |
Yorkshire Air Ambulance’s latest fundraising campaign has been given a lift by staff at a leading Sheffield sports venue.
Kind hearted employees based at The English Institute of Sport Sheffield (EIS Sheffield) have donated more than 40 bras to the ambulance service’s BAG IT UP Bra Campaign.
The campaign was launched in 2006 and will see at least £10,000 donated to Yorkshire Air Ambulance for every 200,000 bras received.
Unwanted bras will then be sent to countries such as West Africa, where traders can buy and sell quality used garments at affordable prices.
Fiona Harrison, from England Athletics Yorkshire & Humberside, based at the EIS Sheffield, which is operated by Sheffield International Venues (SIV), said: “Yorkshire Air Ambulance is a life saving charity but it needs to raise more than £7,000 per day to keep both of its ambulances maintained and in the air so we are delighted to be supporting the BAG IT UP Bra Campaign.
“It’s wonderful that staff from the different governing bodies, sports organisations and departments at EIS Sheffield have pulled together to help the campaign.”
Every single bra helps! If you have one, or many, please send them to EIS Sheffield, Coleridge Rd, Sheffield, S9 5DA and we will pass them on to Yorkshire Air Ambulance.
