Snooker Fan for 45 years and fine art portrait artist thought all of his birthdays had come at once when he went along to the World Snooker Academy at the English Institute of Sport Sheffield.
Trevor Neal, acclaimed portrait artist and snooker fan for 45 years had arranged to hang his pictures for the Snooker Star Portraits Exhibition, when by pure look John Parrott happened to be there to film for the 888.com World Snooker Championship's!
It was a great pleasure to meet John as I have great respect for him as a player and he makes an excellent presenter for the championship's, I was very pleased when the producer from BBC asked if they could use a portrait I had painted of Steve Davis for the presenter to have a joke about on film. The piece looked great and should go out over the next few days or so. The slightly mundane task of picture hanging turned into a fantastic afternoon talking snooker with John and the film crew. I only wish I had painted a portrait of Parrott!
The Snooker Star Portraits Exhibition includes works of art by 'About Face' portrait artists, Trevor Neal, Howard Simpson and Kidane Mariam. The portraits will be on display at the World Academy of Snooker at the World Institute of Sport Sheffield, from the 11th April through to the Final of the 888.COM World Snooker Championship's on the 5th May 2008.
