What is playing for success?
Playing for success (PfS) is a nationwide out of school hours study support and learning programme which takes place within various sporting venues. The initiative is aimed at raising standards in literacy, numeracy, ICT and increasing self-esteem in 10-14 year old children.
How does the centre operate?
The centres are run by a qualified teacher and a learning support officer.
The sessions run on Monday to Thursday evenings and the children come for approximately 3 hours between 3:15pm-6:15pm for 7 weeks.
There is a presentation night at the end of the programme to celebrate the success of the pupils that have attended the centre.
What kind of activities are on offer?
The main aim is to motivate the pupils to learn by designing activities that are fun and different to that on offer by schools by using sport, the venue and state of the art IT equipment as our vehicles for learning. We offer activities such as video editing, music making, animation, kit design, interviews and video conferencing.
